Charles O. Meighen, Q.C.

Charles Meighen was born and raised in Brandon and was known by most as “Chuck”. He received a B.A. in 1964 and an LL.B. in 1967, both from the University of Manitoba. Chuck had been practicing with Meighen Haddad LLP since 1967, became a Partner in 1971 and was working as senior counsel with the firm up to the date of his death. 2018 marked the 50th year anniversary of Chuck’s call to the Manitoba Bar.

Prior to commencing the practice of law, Chuck played hockey for the Brandon Wheat Kings and was a member of the 1964-65 University of Manitoba Bison’s National Championship hockey team, which was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame.

Chuck was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1977 by the Province of Manitoba. Chuck was a past President of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, past Chairman of the Brandon District United Way Campaign, past Vice-Chairman of the Manitoba Law Enforcement Review Agency and volunteered extensively on community fundraising projects including capital contributions benefiting the Keystone Centre and the Brandon Regional Health Facility.
