Stacy has strong roots in Brandon as an active community member. She is currently a volunteer at the YMCA, and is a board member of the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation and the Brandon Neighborhood Renewal Corporation. She also maintains a membership with the Canadian Association of Farm Advisors.

 

Stacy received her undergraduate degree from Brandon University, and graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba. She was called to the Bar in 2016, practiced as an associate with Meighen Haddad LLP until 2021 and then became a Partner in 2022.

Profile

 

David has focused his practice on management side labour and employment law. He represents many of the Firm’s public sector, not-for-profit and business clients, advising them on matters related to employment law, labour relations, human rights and privacy. He has appeared before all levels of courts in Manitoba as well numerous administrative tribunals and boards of arbitration. He represents the firm’s clients at collective bargaining and in grievance arbitration. David also conducts workplace investigations and accepts appointments as an arbitrator.

 

Born and raised in Brandon, giving back to his community and his profession is a personal priority. David is a past President of the Brandon University Alumni Association. He is a Life Bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba, having served as a Bencher representing the Western Judicial District for seven years, and President of the Law Society from 2013 to 2014. The Law Society appointed David as Manitoba’s representative to the Council of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada from 2014 until 2020, where he Chaired the CanLII Nominating Committee and the National Standing Committee on the Model Code of Professional Conduct.

 

David often volunteers his time to provide educational seminars on labour, employment and human rights law to human resource professionals, clients, business groups, and fellow lawyers. He has presented at provincial and national conferences and was a co-Chair of the Pitblado Lectures in 2017, and the CBA-FLSC Ethics Forum in 2021. He maintains memberships in the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers, the Canadian Association of University Solicitors, and the Manitoba Bar Association.

 

David received his Bachelor of Law degree from Dalhousie University, was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1998 and became a partner with Meighen Haddad LLP in 2003. He was appointed as King’s Counsel in January 2023.
